  6. Sally says:

My kitchen cabinet doors are laminate. Can I use the Behr cabinet paint on them? If so, how should I prep them?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Sally,

Yes, you can use BEHR® Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel. To prep your cabinets:

      • Clean the laminate surfaces thoroughly with a mild detergent or TSP solution to remove grease, dirt, and grime. Use a degreaser for stubborn spots. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue and let it dry completely.

      • Lightly sand the laminate surfaces with 120-grit sandpaper to roughen the surface. Wipe off the sanding dust with a tack cloth or a damp rag.

      • Apply BEHR® Bonding Primer.

      • After the primer has dried for at least one hour, apply the first coat of BEHR® Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel (Satin or Semi-Gloss).

      • Let the first coat dry for at least two hours before applying a second coat.

NOTE: For optimal results, lightly sand the surface between each coat (primer and first coat of paint, and between the first and second coats of paint) with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth out any brush strokes or roller marks. Wipe away the dust with a tack cloth. This step will require each coat to dry longer than the times mentioned above.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

Can Whipped Cream DC-001 be made in the Cabinet, Door, and Trim Enamel line?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Jess,

Sorry, Whipped Cream cannot be tinted into Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel. However, an alternative white you can try is Polar Bear 75 which can be tinted in that product.

  9. Glenn Spagnuolo says:

What size Graco spray tip do you recommend for using this product on my kitchen cabinet doors?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Glenn,

For this type of project, where the surface areas are small, we recommend a spray tip that delivers a smaller spray fan. It’s best to use a 311 spray tip as it will deliver a 6-inch spray fan that is perfect for cabinets and smaller doors.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team
