There is a chill in the air to say the least right now! Yes, across Canada, we are all facing the cold weather, with temperatures too frigid to mention. Braving the cold blustery winds, icy streets and bone-chilling elements can be avoided if you make plans to escape, for even just a short while! To “make it through” a Canadian winter, planning a warm adventure is just what many of us need to break up long stretches of below zero weather.
The appeal of a mid-winter escape isn’t all about the warm weather. It’s a sensory experience, heightened by colour, that is, a colour palette often only found in exotic locales.
The skies are intensely blue and the turquoise waters are captivating. And, there’s no reason you can’t bottle up this nature-inspired palette, that is, in your mind’s eye. Better yet, take photos, photos and more photos! And entertain infusing these celestial hues into your home.
I often advocate just a hit of colour may be all you need to capture the moment in time. A small space, like a powder room, can handle a dose of intense colour, since the room is its own entity. Alternatively, just adding a blown glass vase in a colour like Behr’s “Island Dream” could be enough to inject the feeling of your winterlude getaway into your home.
If you can’t get away by travelling this year, try using your imagination. Read a good book and dream about warmer climates. Then apply a dab of colour to your home to make it your own resort!
Colourfully yours,
Nancy
