As October gets progressively cooler and the nights longer, so does our desire to get crafty, cozy and comfortable. It’s a month of nighttime walks among fallen leaves and a dark sky, and of dreaming up the perfect seasonal decor for indoors and out. The deep slate shade of Behr paint color Broadway PPU18-20 calls to mind the October night sky, as well as the black construction paper that’s cherished by nearly every child for Halloween art projects. Broadway is, without question, October’s ideal Color of the Month.
Broadway adds an immense amount of visual interest to a foyer. It is ideal in such a space, painted entirely, ceiling and all, in this dark, mood-infused color. Brighten it up by painting white to the upper halves of each wall giving you this timeless look.
In the modern kitchen, Broadway is the perfect shade for a wall full of cabinets, turning them into a focal point that is otherwise white. A white honeycomb-patterned backsplash, visible between base and wall cabinets, adds a hint of visual texture. Glass jars full of lentils, beans or spices add playful pops of color to the open cabinet design. A tablecloth in a white, yellow, and black plaid pairs well with the white and black color scheme.
Broadway serves as a modern yet timeless backdrop for a dining room, too. This luxe shade looks simply stunning surrounded by white wall trim. Wooden anything stands out in this room, whether it’s in the form of reclaimed wide-plank flooring or a dining table carved out of a tree. Layering area rugs in two neutrals, such as a silvery gray and black, adds even more appeal to the room.
In the bedroom, a Broadway wall completely changes the look of an otherwise white room. Light wood flooring, such as pickled or whitewashed oak, balances the interplay of white and black. Gray patterned pillows and bedding are ideal in this mostly neutral room. A few potted plants and a large black and white printed canvas serve as focal points in this space that’s easy on the eyes.
Broadway even has its place in the baby’s room. As a paint color for the wall adjacent to the crib, this color imbues the essence of the nighttime sky, inspiring some much-needed sleep. Black and white photos, a dark wood dresser and natural fiber baskets round out this trendy yet classic gender-neutral nursery.
A black color like Broadway in a home exterior adds a modern touch to the view from the yard. And a patio area of assorted stones and bricks adds an organic vibe to this outdoor area. From inside the home’s addition, the view overlooks its own personal oasis: a wildflower garden awash in all sorts of colors.
